Social Work is an essential profession that addresses multifaceted societal concerns. Case management is a crucial part of social work practice. The DSWD Academy recognizes the importance of prioritizing social work case management for adoption and alternative child care cases for its agenda for 2024. Adoption is a complex process that requires specialized skills, and social workers need to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to demonstrate effective social work case management in adoption, fostering positive outcomes for individuals and families involved.

The training aims to increase the knowledge and develop further the skills of Social Workers on Adoption be it local and inter-country adoption and alternative child care following the provision of the new Adoption law under the National Authority on Child Care.

This training is intended for Registered Social Workers, whose functions are Social Welfare Officer I, II, and Social Welfare Officer III of the Local Government Units, and the Centers/Residential Care Facilities of the DSWD who are front liners of social work case management of Adoption cases.

Program Objective: By the end of the course, the Social Workers will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to demonstrate effective social work case management in adoption and alternative child care, fostering positive outcomes for individuals and families involved.

Enabling Objectives: Specifically, by the end of the activity, the participants will be able to:

1. Review their functions in the case management of adoption and alternative child care cases if aligned with the concepts and phases of case management;
2. Identify the foundational principles of social work case management, emphasizing their significance in adoption and alternative child care cases;
Identify and describe the different theories they can use in the social work case management of Adoption Cases;
3. Apply an empathetic and culturally sensitive approach in simulated situations involving adoption cases, recognizing and responding to emotional challenges and diverse cultural backgrounds;
4. Assess and analyze different scenarios to demonstrate a practical understanding of clients' rights and responsibilities within various social relationships: and actively contribute to discussions to achieve positive adoption and foster care process outcomes;
5. Demonstrate the practical application of specialized skills by engaging in simulated scenarios of conducting investigations, evaluations, and treatment for clients involved in adoption and alternative child care cases;
Integrate their enhanced knowledge and skills to manage adoption and alternative child care cases effectively, make decisions, and take actions that ensure the well-being of all parties involved; and
6. Apply their knowledge of relevant laws governing child protection, adoption and alternative child, and criminal justice to real-life scenarios within the ecological context of social work
